This is the type of resort you go to when you’ve never been to a resort before, never in your life, so you don’t know what a resort should be like. Those are the people who will be happy with the low class atmosphere. Positives.... entertainment puts on a good show The staff, like all Dominicans, are amazing people who work too hard for too little. Tip them well!!! Negatives... If you’re a local of Puerto Plata, Boca Chica has the same reputation as Sosua, enough said. 🙄 Pool was dirty, not that it mattered as we had to put a $20 down payment for beach towels , 2 towels$40, but they had no towels when we went so we’ll return our tickets to hopefully get back our $40 US. The 1 bedroom suite reminds me of my first apartment I had in Ontario in 1998 when I had to rent as cheap as I could possibly find to start out in life. Rooms had no towels, no soap, no shampoo, no conditioner, no lotion... again if you’ve never been to a decent resort, you won’t know the difference but this is usually supplied at hotels and resorts for you. We finally got shampoo and 2 towels. When you get towels, which took us 5 hours, you get 1 per person, use them wisely. There is 2 small bottles of water in the mini bar fridge which is all we are getting for 2 days. There’s limited hot water so shower at intervals. Like one in the morning and one at night or just do what I did, take the cold and let your partner have the hot water. I live in Puerto Plata so on weekends, we do road trips to different cities. Unfortunately, I think this was my first and last time to Boca Chica. It’s just not for me. If you decide to go, again if you’ve never stayed in a good resort or hotel then your expectations might be ok. If you travel a lot and prefer hotels and resorts like Lifestyle, embassy suites, Marriott, Hilton, or Grand Bahia Principe, please know, you WILL be disappointed.

Terrible hotel. I tbe middle of the pandemic, when people with reservations need i formation, this hotel doesn't answer ema or phone a d has no statement on its website describing its status (open or closed) during the epidemic. Not a hotel I would ever spend my money on - simply uncaring with zero level of service to people with reservations.

Had an amazing stay. Highly recommended!
